Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated Episode 18 Review

Well, it's Tuesday Night yet again, and time for another new episode of Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated. Tonight's episode is called "The Dragon's Secret" and *whispering* I've already seen it once tonight because I now have DirecTV :)

Yep, I already know what happened in tonight's episode of SDMI, but I preferred to wait until the show airs on the west coast as usual to do my blog and review of the show. It sounds like I might be leaving the house to run some errands, so tonight's blog may be delayed, but I will certainly try and do the blog as I originally planned to, and that's at the time it airs on the west coast.

So far in Canada, episode 24 has aired, which leaves two episodes left of Scooby Doo Mystery Inc. this season. Unfortuntely because of Cartoon Network's long, long break between new episodes, the final episode will not air until July 26th, while in two weeks the final episode is set to air in Canada.

Let's see where to begin(as I was not able to see the west coast airing, this will be a little different then usual blogs).

First, we had a junk shop owner that looked a little like Donny Osmond(seriously he did).

We had the gang welcoming a new exchange student named Mi-Lee(we'll hear more about her later).

Apparently Mi-Lee has a bit of a, shall we say crush on Shaggy; which Velma is none too pleased about of course.

Of course considering how Velma had treated Shaggy when they were together, who could blame Shaggy for turning his attention to Mi-Lee. I can certainly understand why he would do something like that.

Speaking of Velma and Shaggy, we had a bit of a dinner party hosted by the Blakes at their home to start this episode. And of course, they are non too pleased with one Fred Jones, who had previously booby trapped Daphne's(and the rest of the gang's homes as well).

And what's a dinner party in a TV show without a guest that wasn't on the guest list? Pretty boring of course; in this case, we have a mysterious figure known as the White Wizard, who apparently wants something called the Dragon's Heart(which we'll get to later).

Throughout the course of the episode the Dragon's Heart is going to be a very important part of the show, not to mention there is a second wizard involved with trying to get the Dragon's Heart, a red one in this case.

Apparently this dragon's heart, whatever it is, is the reason why the two wizards decided to have an epic, unbelivable battle in the streets of Crystal Cove.

Besides the two wizards, there is a diplomat named Mr. Wang, who has come to Crystal Cove from China to talk to the city's mayor; and guess who that is?

As we've seen before, Crystal Cove has a Chinatown, and a coffee house and tea house. And yes, because its 2011, the coffee house is also an Internet Cafe, not that there's any problem with that.

Speaking of which, since when do coffeehouses serve Bacon Lattes and Szechuan Pork Ice Cream Sandwiches? That's about as bad as Werewolf Snacks, Fried Moonbeams and Vampire Snacks(bonus points if you can recognize those refrences).

After the Blakes dinner party, apparently after the whole traps thing, Daphne had a bit of a moment where she channeled her parents. But Daphne managed to forget that, for a while.

Now to the unmasking of the villain: the White Wizard was.... Mr. Wang, the Diplomat. He of course wanted 4 rings which when attatched to a statue called the Jade Dragon which is a ruby.

But the red wizard, who was Mr. Chen, the owner of the coffee house managed along with the gang to stop him before he could finish his plans.

But there was a huge suprise for the gang, and for Shaggy to come. That surprise being that the person who actually was after the Dragon's Heart was.... Mi-Lee!

Yep, the exchange student who had a crush on Shaggy. Apparently all that stuff about her liking Shaggy was not relaly truthful and she just used him and the gang to find the ruby for her(gee, why does that sound familar?).

But after an exciting final scene, or couple of ones involving Shaggy confronting Mi-Lee who revealed all of what she was trying to do, the gang was able to capture her, and recover the Ruby.

Too bad though, I think Mi-Lee was a nice person, and definitely produced some jealousy in Velma. Especially Shaggy and Mi-Lee sharing ice cream, while Velma tells Scooby: "I Feel you Dog".

Overall, it was a pretty good episode, and while Velma still has some issues with Shaggy, its apparent that she doesn't want him to get hurt. And it also appears that Velma and Scooby Doo are getting to be friends again; as for my rating, I would say 7.5 out of 10.

Good Fred/Daphne development, a new albeit temporary love interest for Shaggy, and some jealousy from Velma. Plus another appearance from Hot Dog Water(Linda Cardinelli) and another appearance from Daphne's parent; no movement on the Mr. E. storyline like last week though.

But there's still plenty of time left in the season, and plenty of clues left in the mystery of Crystal Cove. Be back next week when i'll have another live blog, and another new episode of SDMI; a quick preview of next week though: looks like Vincent Van Ghoul will make another appearance :) See you next time

Update

This is just a short blog post, although I figured I would do a seperate post instead of including this on a review because it is important to the blog in general.

We now have DirecTV in our house, which means I can watch each new SDMI episode twice; once in the Eastern time zone, and once in the Pacific Time Zone.

Now, I have spoken with a few readers of the blog, and they think I should just watch the episode the first time, and then blog about it the second time it airs.

Granted its going to be a little weird watching the same episode twice in one night, but I am still going to do blogs and will still be reviewing each episode for the remainder of the season.

And hopefully season 2 as well and any future seasons and series(and maybe movies as well). That's it for now, but i'll be back later with the official live blog/review of tonight's Scooby episode.

Scooby Doo Mystery Inc. episode 17 review

Well, it's once again Tuesday night, and it is time for another episode of Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated.

Tonight's installment is titled "Escape from Mystery Manor" and promises to be one of the best episodes thus far in the season. From what i've read, this episode is going to have much of what made the original series(Scooby Doo Where Are You) so awesome.

This episode will deal with the dissapearance of the original Mystery Incorporated, whose last case was investigating the unsolved dissapearance(how about that, double dissapearances) of the Darrow family. Apparently, the Darrow family's mansion is now underground, and apparently we are going to get a Scooby Doo/Saw movie series crossover type of story.

This is exactly the type of episode I know I have been looking forward to for a long time; it is exactly what Scooby Doo is supposed to be, and was supposed to be back in the 60s. However, because the show was intended for kids, after the show was pitched to CBS, they turned it down because they thought it would be too frightening.

Thankfully Hanna and Barbera were able to repurpose the show and repitch it to CBS; naturally the show became a hit because of this, and it is still airing to this day. After Scooby Doo on Zombie Island, Scooby Doo fans were hoping the real ghosts and monsters thing, and the dark direction the franchise was going would continue.

But alas, things changed in 2002 or so, and now we have Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated. And now, we have an episode that is exactly what Scooby is supposed to be like: scary, and some horror, along with just the right pinch of humor to make the show perfect.

7:29 PM: Show Time!

7:29 PM: Halloween huh, sounds interesting

7:30 PM: Considering the screen looks like that, I can see that its decades ago.

7:30 PM: Geez, talk about a Family Feud; somebody get Richard Dawson or Richard Karn on the phone.

7:30 PM: Uh oh

7:31 PM: WOW!!! Just like the Fall of the House of Usher huh?

7:31 PM: Angel Dynamite again; cool

7:31 PM: Angel Dynamite definitely has something to do with the mystery...

7:32 PM: No E? Huh?

7:32 PM: That Ricky was definitely Shaggy, before Shaggy of course

7:33 PM: Back to the college...

7:33 PM: Velma... Yeah, I got nothing...

7:33 PM: I don't think Santa's been down it for a while? Yeah...

7:33 PM: Time to drop out of college; love that line...

7:34 PM: Uh oh... spooky voice on the radio...

7:34 PM: So far so good... So, the paper said Mystery Inc. disappeared in the caves, but that diary said they were investigating the mansion... So which is it?

7:36 PM: That voice on the radio reminds me of The Shadow, or The Whistler or some spooky mystery man who stays in the shadows, not wanting to be found; now that's cool.

7:37 PM: Mr. Big Chin Man? HA!

7:38 PM: I think this guy's confused... or nuts... or just crazy... or all three...

7:38 PM: Traps? yeah, this guy's really confused...

7:39 PM: WOW!!! Spikes!!!

7:39 PM: Fred's actually pretty good at this...

7:40 PM: If they ever brought back Concentration, Fred would be a great contestant... He figured out that puzzle pretty quick...

7:40 PM: Fred's got a rival in trap making.... very interesting...

7:41 PM: Man, that place has more knives then a cutlery set...

7:41 PM: Big suprise... another trap....

7:41 PM: This reminds me of an old Josie and the Pussycats episode... the whole trapping each member of the gang in seperate traps...

7:42 PM: He's still really confused....

7:42 PM: A swimming pool? Hmm....

7:42 PM: Not underwater you can't Freddie...

7:43 PM: Time to show your true colors Fred, can you do it?

7:43 PM: Jeez Fred...

7:44 PM: Does he really know what he's doing, or is he just...

7:44 PM: Um Fred... Aren't you forgetting someone?

7:45 PM: Daphne better grow a tail... and soon...

7:45 PM: CPR? Daphne...

7:46 PM: Now let's check in on Velma, Shaggy and Scooby...

7:46 PM: And I think we know who the know it all is here...

7:46 PM: Don't answer that...

7:47 PM: Smooth move Velma...

7:47 PM: It's up to Scooby? OK...

7:47 PM: Velma actually gave Scooby a compliment... nice...

7:48 PM: That was easy... or not...

7:48 PM: He has a point there...

7:48 PM: Not bad Velma...

7:49 PM: Good luck with that...

7:49 PM: He's certainly no Orson Welles, that's for sure

7:49 PM: Danny Darrow huh? And he looks like a hermit... Not good...

7:52 PM: I can't tell if that's really Howling Mad Murdock or not...

7:53 PM: Let's see... he's still crazy... definitely

7:54 PM: Hey, it's a puzzle piece....

7:54 PM: If that's Dwight Schultz, he's perfect for this role...

7:54 PM: Fred... that's.... Um....

7:55 PM: Spray him with a hose?

7:55 PM: I think Fred's watched Braveheart way too many times

7:55 PM: Now that was funny

7:56 PM: So much for that...

7:56 PM: Fred and Danny Darrow talking traps; this could be a good radio show

7:56 PM: Being down in an underground mansion for 75 years can do that to you

7:57 PM: Wait... how did all his other family members grow old while he turned into a hermit?

7:58 PM: Cool, a mention of the original Mystery Inc.

7:58 PM: Fault Line? Oh boy, this can't be good...

7:58 PM: The gang better get out and soon...

7:58 PM: So Danny Darrow's just going to stay there... man, that sucks

7:59 PM: NO WAY!!! Fred's dad was spying on them? Is he involved somehow too?

7:59 PM: so there are more puzzle pieces out there possibly? The mystery thickens...

Well, let's see: we had some Mr. E plot development, mentions of the original Mystery Inc. and Fred's dad was spying on the gang; overall, a lot of questions to the Curse of Crystal Cove, but not too many answers, so it looks like we're going to have to unravel a lot more of this mystery before it gets close to being solved.

I'm stuck between giving this episode a 9 and a 10, so we'll just call it even and give this episode a 9.7; development for all the major plot lines, and a great mystery in a creepy haunted house setting to boot.

Back next week with another blog and another new episode... and next week promises to have some jealousy from Velma... Stay tuned...

Scooby Doo Mystery Inc. episode 16 Review

Well, it's Tuesday night yet again, and its time for another Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated episode; this week's installment is titled "Where Walks Aphrodite" and judging by the reviews from Canada, things might get very spooky, or lovely depending on your point of view.

Last week's installment was an interesting episode, and the Mr. E storyline was advanced ever so slightly, but there's still a long way to go, and plenty of episodes left to air this season(I'm talking to you Harold Camping...).

7:29 PM: Show Time!

7:30 PM: Soccer; gotta love that.

7:30 PM: Wait, did he say Fred played Soccer? Cool, I did not know that

7:30 PM: Did I see Pebbles and one of the Chans?

7:31 PM: Dang! That's the villain, or rather villainess this week? She does look like Zomba actually.

7:31 PM: Traps Illustrated again? LOL, LOL, LOL

7:32 PM: Scooby Snacks are back, I like, I like.

7:32 PM: The head of the Chess Club is holding hands with the Class President? Sounds like something from Kim Possible :)

7:33 PM: Uh oh, Shaggy's been hit with the love potion, or whatever that was.

7:33 PM: Hot Dog Water Girl? Um, OK...

7:33 PM: Oh no, not Velma too!

7:34 PM: Hmm... you know, this actually might not be too bad...

7:34 PM: And now Fred and Daphne are cuckoo for each other... This is not good, wait yes it is...

7:34 PM: Ugly Lady? LOL

7:35 PM: So that love spell doesn't work on animals... Interesting...

7:35 PM: Oh hey, it's Velma's mom again...

7:35 PM: Oh Crap, whoops, excuse my french

7:38 PM: Sorry if parts of this blog seem rushed; I got back from a walk around the block about a minute before the episode's start, so I just barely got back in time to see the start.

7:39 PM: OMG! Professor Pericles! Oh wait, he hasn't met Scooby Doo yet before tonight's episode; should be interesting to see how him and Scooby work together.

7:40 PM: Funny, Hot Dog Water Girl didn't look much like an Evil Velma... I guess I didn't pay attention to her looks

7:40 PM: Clover Toed Comrade?

7:41 PM: He doesn't want to help you Scooby Doo! He is a crook! An animal one, but a crook nonetheless!

7:41 PM: Oh brother; wait, Velma's into the weird food? Oh wait, its just part of the spell....

7:42 PM: I think i'm going to be sick; this love stuff is waaaay over doing it!

7:42 PM: Innocent canine comrade? Hmm...

7:43 PM: Wait a minute... how does Professor Pericles know about the andidote to the spell? He's in on this somehow, I just know it!

7:43 PM: She's baaack....

7:44 PM: Crown? Wait a minute, what crown?

7:44 PM: Go Scooby Doo GO!

7:44 PM: You know, if it wasn't for the fact that Pericles was evil, I would say that Scooby and him make a great team

7:45 PM: The Mayor and the Sheriff? OMG!!!!

7:45 PM: That was a pretty funny yowl

7:46 PM: Is that Angel Dynamite driving the Mystery Machine? How did she get the keys?

7:46 PM: No Sense of smell? Hmm...

7:46 PM: WAIT A MINUTE.... why did Angel Dynamite say what she said when she saw Professor Pericles? I think they know each other somehow...

7:49 PM: You know, Adventure Time is actually slightly funny...

7:50 PM: I'm telling you, Pericles and Angel Dynamite have met each other before now, you can make bank on that...

7:51 PM: Man Shaggy, that's pretty good... and it was a Vincent Van Ghoul movie?

7:51 PM: A prom dress... hmmm....

7:52 PM: Cool, that's one smart parrot, if he can read I mean...

7:52 PM: Amanda Smythe huh? She doesn't look like someone who might have been prom queen...

7:53 PM: Trap time!

7:53 PM: Well, that was an awkward conversation... I don't know what to make of it myself...

7:54 PM: Way to go Fred!

7:54 PM: So, Angel Dynamite knows about the anditote too?

7:54 PM: "Does my look have anything to do with a skirt and lipstick?" LOL!

7:55 PM: I like the gang's prom type outfits, very stylish...

7:55 PM: Wait, Velma's not wearing a sweater? That's a first...

7:55 PM: T-Shirts, Hats and Pins huh... yes, yet another money making opportunity for his honor the mayor...

7:56 PM: Well, everybody's back to normal now, that's good

7:56 PM: "Do you know how it feels like to be humiliated?" Don't answer that Velma...

7:57 PM: Cool, so it's just like Carrie...

7:57 PM: I have to admit, that's a plan that makes a lot of sense...

7:57 PM: Hey, the sidekicks did it again!

7:58 PM: Hey, it's Mr. E's associate again...

7:58 PM: So Professor Pericles gave Aphrodite the formula? AHA!!!

7:59 PM: So, a cursed treasure is part of the curse possibly...

8:01 PM: so, from what I understand, Pericles wants the treasure, and Mr. E doesn't want him to get it, and wants to stop him...

8:02 PM: In addition, if he finds the treasure(Pericles I mean) it might mean the end of Crystal Cove... Now I really want to find out what happens...

Well, tonight's show was a lot better then last week's, plus there was some major Fraphne and Shelma development(despite it being them under a spell) and there was some Curse of Crystal Cove development as well... Plus we got to see what exactly part of the curse might be as well...

Overall, I give the episode an 8 out of 10, and it should be interesting to see what happens with the curse in later shows, and what happens with the two couples of Mystery Inc., not to mention there's still Professor Pericles and Angel Dynamite, and Pericles and Mr. E's associate.

Should be an interesting rest of the season; oh, and don't forget to be here next week, same time, same website for another blog and another review. And yes, I am saying that there WILL be another blog(Despite what certain people think, because... well, I won't go into it here).

Be back next Tuesday with more...

Scooby Doo Mystery Inc. Episode 15 review

Well, it's Tuesday night, and it is time for another new episode of Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated... and another new live blog for that matter.

I want to bring something up that's going on, and may affect this blog. There is a possiblity that we(my family and I) might be getting DirecTV soon, which means I will be able to watch new Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated episodes three hours early because DirecTV has two feeds of Cartoon Network(east and west of course).

I say this might affect the blog because it will mean that I might be able to blog about each episode earlier then it airs on the west coast(where I live); so therefore, I have to ask a question of my readers:

Would you like me to do a live blog during the Eastern feed of each new episode, or the Pacific feed of each new episode? Just curious to see what everybody wants to see out of me, and what I should do; I will probably make decision when we get DirecTV so for now, I will wait and see what you guys think about what I should do.

Now, onto the real reason(at least I hope the real reason) why everyone comes to this blog: my review of tonight's installment of Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated. Tonight we return to the season long Mr. E storyline, with an episode called "The Wild Brood".

Last week's installment of SDMI was a fun sidetrip from the season's storyline, that of course was called "Mystery Solvers Club State Finals". Actually, considering the episode's plot, it was more like an All Star Game for mystery solvers(yes, it's a sports term, but it's a good term nonetheless). Of course all star games are cool and are looked forward to every year and so was last week's Scooby Doo episode; as far as last week's episode, it was as good as an All Star Game and probably will be remembered for quite a while(too bad it hadn't been done before this series, but I digress).

I know a lot of people have seen the new episodes already, but I managed to hold off on watching them until Cartoon Network airs them in the US(which is now obviously); unfortuntely Cartoon Network took their everloving sweet time to show the new episodes, but at least they are now airing.

It also looks like Canada is getting new Scooby episodes before the US; in my opinion, it is silly beyond all belief that Canada gets new Scooby episodes before the US, but unfortuntely that's what happened. Hopefully we won't have too many delays with the remainder of the first season, and the rest of the episodes will air uninterrupted until the season's conclusion.

Of course that also leads to the fact that Season 2 of SDMI will have to be talked about soon as well, considering a plot, ideas, episodes and etc. will probably be revealed soon before Season 1 ends or soon afterwards; hopefully(at least for me) Season 2 will be a modern 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo with Fred and Velma, as well as Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby obviously.

7:29 PM: I know it's early but what the heck: Show Time!

7:29 PM: So tonight's episode has bikers, interesting...

7:30 PM: Wait a minute, do I see a biker Bar?

7:30 PM: The Stink of Desperation? HA! That's funny

7:31 PM: Odnarb? Isn't that Brando backwards?... Wait a minute, it is!

7:31 PM: A mouthful of Spanker? Um... No comment

7:31 PM: FIGHT!!!! Biker FIGHT!!!!

7:32 PM: Cappucinos? What Biker drinks Cappucino? Jeez....

7:32 PM: This might be interesting, and I do mean interesting...

7:33 PM: For some reason, bikers are always pretty cool... although do they have to be green in this?

7:33 PM: Hey, it's the Tiki Bar again! Contiuity baby, contiuity

7:33 PM: Fred and Daphne are on a date! Cool

7:34 PM: Mr. Jones, the way things are going, you ain't gettin grandkids anytime soon...

7:34 PM: The rest of the gang is on the date with them? Come on....

7:34 PM: Velma.... Just.... Stop....

7:35 PM: Leather wearing Creepy? I love that line...

7:35 PM: Squares? What is this the 1950's?

7:35 PM: Daphne's going to fall in love with the Biker dude... And Fred will not be happy...

7:36 PM: Poetic? Um...

7:36 PM: See, told you... Fred's not happy...

7:36 PM: Daphne and Velma are going with the Bikers? Burn!

7:36 PM: He has a guitar too? Jeez...

7:37 PM: Man... Velma's got a dark side... kind of...

7:37 PM: Velma's good with autmotive stuff? Since when...

7:37 PM: I love that line

7:38 PM: Me thinks thereth a rogue Orc...

7:40 PM: OK, why are there tractor ads during a kids show?

7:41 PM: Clearly Velma's still got some antimosity towards Shaggy... Come on Velma, just cool it and go back to being friends already.

7:42 PM: Back to the show...

7:43 PM: Um... why is Daphne wearing underwea... never mind...

7:43 PM: And how did the sheriff get into her bedroom?

7:43 PM: Fred's reaction was priceless...

7:43 PM: Did the sheriff just walk into a closet?

7:44 PM: Shaggy's down...

7:44 PM: The sheriff getting lost in the closet... Funny!

7:45 PM: So Crystal Cove has a China Town... Cool...

7:45 PM: Hey... he sounds familar...

7:45 PM: Tusky?

7:46 PM: Mr. E's back... Hmm....

7:46 PM: Of course it's a swordfish... Once again Velma you are a genius...

7:47 PM: Uh oh... Velma's gone...

7:47 PM: Ditto Scooby Doo, uh oh

7:48 PM: Getting towards the conclusion of this episode...

7:50 PM: Kung Fu Panda 2 trailer... Cool...

7:51 PM: Man, this crook is mean....

7:51 PM: "And I have a chick mustache"? Ha Ha!

7:51 PM: Ironic... Yeah...

7:52 PM: Velma chose to save Scooby by helping the crook... Way to go Velma... She does care after all!

7:52 PM: I guess Velma's friendship with Scooby Doo is back on track as it were...

7:53 PM: The bikers are video game geeks!!! Now that is funny!!!

7:54 PM: So the sheriff doesn't like Geeks... Yeah...

7:54 PM: There goes the train... but can they catch it?

7:55 PM: Yes they can...

7:55 PM: So the crook was after a solid gold video game console? Come on....

7:56 PM: Wow... Fred's going to try and catch the crool himself... Nice!

7:56 PM: Looks like Crystal Cove is going to need a new bridge...

7:56 PM: Now this is getting good... lots of action and mystery... Love this!

7:57 PM: There goes one boxcar

7:57 PM: It's someone they didn't meet in the episode before now... Um yeah...

7:57 PM: The copy boy... huh...

7:58 PM: Well that was a dumb plan....

7:58 PM: Sheriff, you are a dummy...

7:58 PM: Good job Daph... knowing who really cares about you... that's cool...

7:59 PM: Jeez... She Digs You, we got it the first five times Fred...

7:59 PM: Oh yeah, I almost forgot: Brain Melting Bunker Busters... that was funny

Well, the episode was good, but it was kind of anti climatic; I mean after finding out the Orcs were really video game geeks, what was the point? I mean other then finding out who was the fake biker...

This episode wasn't one of the better ones of the series, but it was passable; I give it a 6.5 out of 10. Be back next week with another new episode and blog.

Scooby Doo Mystery Inc. Episode 14 Review

Well, this is a switch isn't it; it's Tuesday night, and finally after a long, looong wait, it's time for a new episode of Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated.

Tonight, we have an episode that can only be described as EPIC!(Sorry); tonight's installment of SDMI(or Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated if you prefer) is one for the history books and one that is going to be remembered for years to come(unless you believe Harold Camping or the Mayans, but we won't get into that, not tonight).

Tonight's episode is called "Mystery Solvers Club State Finals", and features not only Scooby and the gang, but also Speed Buggy and his friends, Jabberjaw and his friends, Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels, and Funky Phantom and his crew. I don't want to give anything away, but this crossover episode promises to be one for the ages, and must be seen to be believed.

This will be another live blog, and just as a reminder, some of the live blogs will be regular blogs this summer; as I have other plans for Tuesday nights, so unless the weather's bad, or something changes, I will be doing live blogs every Tuesday through at least late June.

Basically this is going to go all over the place, and it will be random comments as usual; which is how I write these things :)

7:12 PM: We might have a no hitter tonight in baseball and it might occur in Chicago.

7:16 PM: Two outs

7:17 PM: Well look at that: the Pac 12 has a new TV deal starting next year

7:18 PM: No-Hitter Minnesota Twins!

7:20 PM: Now, let's get ready for Scooby Doo

7:25 PM: Ah yes, the Looney Tunes show is on after Scooby; just like the good old days of Saturday Morning Cartoons; Scooby Doo, then the Looney Tunes, back to back.

7:28 PM: Ooh, a Thor trailer commercial; that movie looks pretty good.

7:29 PM: T-Minus one minute and counting

7:30 PM: Aw yeah, here we go!

7:30 PM: Poor Scooby Doo, I would hate to be in his shoes right now

7:30 PM: The Mystery Solvers State Finals; man, I wish that was a real competition

7:30 PM: HA!!! Fred's reaction was Priceless!

7:31 PM: Chicken Soup? Yuck! I would not like that soup

7:31 PM: Sidekick? Jeez Velma; open mouth, insert foot

7:31 PM: Ooh, Dream Sequence time! and it's in the old HB style of animation, I love this!

7:32 PM: This looks awesome!

7:32 PM: Let's see: the Teen Angels and Captain Caveman, Jabberjaw, Speed Buggy and the Funky Phantom, I love this!!!!

7:33 PM: Aw yeah, love this!

7:34 PM: Not the priority of anyone in town? Well duh!

7:34 PM: HA! Angel Dynamite looks very cool, especially in that HB style!

7:34 PM: Uh oh, everybody vanished!

7:35 PM: That Lord Infernicus looks creepy as heck!

Well, other then the fact that we didn't see the Actual Mystery Solvers State Finals, I liked the episode. I rate it a 10 out of 10; 10 being the best of course. Next week we'll get back to the Crystal Cove mystery and things look very interesting for the rest of this season; very promising as well.

Stay tuned to this blog as usual, and I will see you all next week with a brand new Scooby Doo live blog.

Scooby Doo Mystery Inc. Recap/Review/Preview

To paraphrase the great sports announcer Keith Jackson: "Whoa Nelly!"; it's been a long time since we had a new Scooby Doo Mystery Inc. episode and now that the second half of Season 1 is set to air on Cartoon Network starting tomorrow, it's time to do a first half recap, in the style of John Madden, Peter Gammons and all the best sports analysts of the past.

First let's begin with what brought us to this moment:

Scooby Doo, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne and Velma now live in the city of Crystal Cove, "The Most Hauntedest Place on Earth" or whatever the show claims it as.

Don't ask me why this changed from Coolsville, I have no idea; anyway, here's some of the main facts we've learned from Half 1 of Season 1(and despite what CN thinks, IT IS NOT A NEW SEASON!), it is the remainder of season 10.

First, there is some sort of curse on Crystal Cove, which has not been fully explained quite yet. But we do know the following about the curse:

One, it has to do with several disappearances in the history of Crystal Cove, including the following:

An entire town of missionaries sometime during the 16 or 1700s possibly (I forget the exact date).

A group of Spanish conquistadors looking for gold, again during the 16, 17 or 1800s, I forget the exact date.

And finally, the disappearance of the Darrow family (whose fate apparently will be brought up in an upcoming episode).

In addition, the members of a detective group like Scooby Doo and company called Mystery Incorporated suffered some kind of horrible fate, which is unknown at the moment. However, we do know they disappeared and that disappearance seems to be tied in with the curse somehow.

Second, someone named Mr. E who has apparently been helping the gang (while it is unknown whether he is quite exactly friend or foe at the moment) in their quest to solve the curse of Crystal Cove.

There have been rumors and possibilities of Mr. E’s identity including:

Angel Dynamite, a Disc Jockey at a radio station named K-Ghoul; in addition, she may be related to Cassidy Williams, one of the members of the original Mystery Inc.

The sheriff of Crystal Cove, Bronson Stone(no I am not making that name up), voiced by Patrick Warburton AKA Joe from Family Guy, Kronk from Disney’s the Emperor’s New Groove, etc.; the sheriff and the mayor of Crystal Cove seem to be good friends, so does that mean he is Mr. E? Or maybe he’s helping Mr. E? Then of course there’s the possibility that he is working with the mayor to protect the secret of the curse of Crystal Cove.

Then we have the mayor himself: Fred’s dad; is he really Mr. E? and if so, is he hiding something else from Fred and the rest of the gang? Was he a member of the original Mystery Incorporated? If he was, why is he hiding it? Does he not want Fred to suffer the same fate the original Mystery Inc. did?

We also have Professor Pericles, the original MI’s pet parrot; we saw him in the episode “Howl of the Fright Hound”, but apparently he was sort of an animal Hannibal Lecter and had to be confined to an animal insane asylum. He is now apparently very intelligent and there could be plenty of parallels to the way Scooby and Shaggy are engaging in a tit for tat, or was, with Velma. Maybe the first Mystery Inc.’s Shaggy was in love with the first MI’s Velma and possibly Professor Pericles didn’t like it and wanted to stop things right then and there.

In addition, there is the fact that Fred’s mom is missing, or has not been seen in the show yet; where is she? Could she be Mr. E? and if so, has Fred’s dad been hiding this for all this time? It’s certainly possible.

There have been people who said Velma’s mom is Mr. E, or one of his helpers. Is this true? And if so, is Velma’s mom hiding something?

There are a few other suspects including Franklin Fruitmeyer, and the CEO of the Destroido corportation(from the Cicadas episode); so the mystery is far from being over.

While the Curse of Crystal Cove could be something supernatural, we know the mayor and the sheriff, as well as the rest of the gang’s parents don’t want MI to solve the curse mystery because apparently the town is using monsters and ghosts as part of its revenue stream.

Does this mean that the mayor and sheriff want to cover up the curse by pretending to help the gang, only to be leading them possibly on a giant wild goose chase? Who knows at this point.

We also found out that Daphne found a locket shaped like a magnifying glass with the pictures of two people inside. It appears that the two people are two members of the original Mystery Inc., or it would seem that way at least.

Also, Daphne is trying to win over Fred (and seemingly succeeding; well sort of) and Velma is stuck between Shaggy and Scooby and trying to win over Shaggy as well. So far, Velma has been dumped by Shaggy, who seems to like Scooby better then her.

People have complained that Velma is a real ***** in this series, and it would seem that way. But the real question is: can the gang figure out these romantic issues before they break up and Crystal Cove remains haunted? I think so, as the gang have already temporarily broken up and reunited, because of the mystery at hand.

Speaking of which, the gang has been given a trunk (stolen by Mr. E by the way) full of artifacts from the Darrow University Family Archives(there’s that Darrow name again); along with that, Mr. E left the gang a note saying “If the first Mystery Inc. had this trunk, maybe they wouldn’t have disappeared.” Or something along those lines. Why did he say that? What does the trunk contain after all? Watching the episode “The Shrieking Madness” it would appear that it contains the entire history of Crystal Cove; if it does, will the gang figure out these clues before it’s too late?

Another thing to consider is what is the curse? Some have speculated it is a cursed treasure, which would make sense considering the conquistadors that vanished during the 1800s(I think); if this is true, what does it have to do with the original Mystery Inc.? Is it possible that the original group of teen sleuths found the treasure, only to have something happen, and the group vanish and Professor Pericles gain whatever powers he now has?

If the treasure is part of the curse, and it did cause Mystery Inc. to vanish(the original MI), what does it have to do with the current town? And where’s Fred’s mom; as I’ve thought a few times watching the show, there are too many questions, with not enough answers.

However, judging by the way things are going, things may be resolved in the second half of season 1, which starts tomorrow night. And it starts off with a bang, an episode where we see Scooby Doo, Captain Caveman, the Funky Phantom, Speed Buggy and Jabberjaw and their friends all working together for once; this is going to be an epic episode and I will not give anything away to anybody, but it promises to be a doozy.

Until tomorrow, this is your friendly Scooby Doo blogger saying: Stay tuned to this blog; because things are going to get quite hairy in the 2nd half of Season 1 of Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated.
